Cycling Coach

If getting faster is a priority for you, then having a cycling coach is an almost guaranteed way to increase speed. Whether you have decided to start racing, or maybe you’re targeting an upcoming sportive, some outside guidance can go a long way toward helping you achieve your goals.

One often quoted benefit of having a coach is that it ‘makes you accountable for your training’. This is true, and may be the extra push you need to be successful, but there is so much more to it than just this. With the ever increasing use of power meters – some bikes now even come with one fitted as standard – a coach can get a really good idea of what you’re doing in each session and accurately gauge how you are reacting in the training set.  As an athlete, surely it’s much easier and less stressful to just do the sessions and have your coach worry about the data thereafter? ‘After all, most of us are far too busy to sit down and look through our sessions. This is before we even begin to factor in that most of us wouldn’t even know where to start with the numbers!’ says RideRevolution head coach, Jake Hales

As well as setting you sessions you can trust will be focused towards helping you achieve your goal, a coach will also be your confidant, that person you can ask questions to and confide in when things aren’t going to plan.

Why not have an expert to explain to you how to do something rather than trying to figure it out all on your own? Instead, your coach tell you when to ride, how much to ride, how hard to ride. All you have to worry about is going out and pressing on the pedals as hard as they’ve told you to. Coaches take the guess work out of your training. It’s human nature to be inherently bad at analysing our own weaknesses and how to overcome those. We all happily spend hundreds, if not thousands on bike parts that may, or may not make us go faster. With a good coach, with a proven track record, you can get a hell of a lot more bang (or watts) for you buck than you will with most of your other cycling related purchases.
