RideRevolution Coach Tim Neale

Tom’s first venture into competitive cycling came about just over 10 years ago, when his teacher convinced him to have a go at a Time Trial on a Mountain Bike. Needless to say, he didn’t contest the course record that day but it definitely gave him a desire to improve on the bike.

Having joined his local club, Spalding Cycling Club, it was then a steep but fruitful learning curve throwing himself into Under 16 racing. With the likes of Steve Lampier as a guide and mentor Tom soon found himself on the top step of the podium. Tom would go on to join Team Corley Cycles, a team which all of us at RideRevolution have been a part of. During his time at Team Corley Cycles he would become the East Midlands Divisional Champion, as well as win a number of National level races and gaining his Elite licence.

2015 would see him move on to Catford CC Equipe/Banks and he would start his year racing in Spain whilst on training camp. Returning to the UK he won one of the “Classic” season openers the Roy Thame, beating some of the biggest names still racing at the top domestic level. Tom managed to retain his Elite licence whilst focus changed to him riding as a domestique for specific leaders on the team.

The following two years were spent in the colours of Metaltek Kuota RT where he would beat current World Tour Professional, Harry Tanfield to a National level win. Unfortunately, a recurring knee injury would see him back away from the higher levels of UK domestic racing, with his final race for Metaltek Kuota being at the Tour Series.

Tom started coaching in 2016 and has had some great success stories from the riders he has coached. Having raced at both National and International level and being keenly analytical when it comes to his and his coached athletes’ rides, we’re more than happy to call him a coach for RideRevolution.
